远在贵州崇山峻岭间的金沙驿站破破烂烂，人烟罕至。驿丞石仪咆（吴宗宪 饰）和卜得辽（雪村 饰）、曾武了（吴孟达 饰）终日无所事事，或靠打猎或靠说冷笑话打发时光。这一日，仪表不凡的玉树（高虎 饰）和馨馨（林心如 饰）到达驿站，接着押解要犯的官差也随后抵达。各色人等相继云集驿站，石仪咆兴奋之余却不知杀机四伏。 原来明朝嘉靖年间，奸相严嵩把持朝纲，陷害忠良，祸国殃民。时有御史张应龙（韩震华 饰）屡次参劾严嵩，反糟奸相憎恨，陷罪乌有，发配边陲。为庸除后患，严嵩密令心腹于此地杀害张应龙。张之女馨馨为救父亲跟随至此。一场大战在所难免……。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。
