故事讲述一个迫降的外星人哈利(图代克饰)在接受了自己科罗拉多小镇医生的新身份后，本带着秘密使命来到地球的他，最终提出了人生中的重大课题：人类值得拯救吗？以及为什么他们在吃披萨之前要折叠？。普通女工韩素云所在的工厂倒闭后，她的爱人、副厂长李梦林发现厂里账目不明，遂将厂长罗田告到了审纪部门。正当审纪部门介入时，罗田因与李梦林发生争吵而突发脑溢血，本就与罗田关系紧张的妻子刘贞乘机将昏迷的丈夫及公婆、女儿甜甜全部推给了李家，而一连串打击又使得罗父病倒。此时，罗母决计要为儿子讨回公道，一纸诉状将李梦林告上法庭，李梦林被判刑两年……。The woman at the other end of Sam's marriage proposal over the telephone is Diane.
